First MX Bike Advice

The age old question of a 125 2 stroke or a 250f for a first mx bike.

Looking at getting an mx bike for the winter months before the short circuits start up again in March. The plan would be to use it at the likes of Watergrasshill and Brinny practice days for some training.

From what I’ve read online (open to others opinions on this) a 250f would be closer to a road bike in engine characteristics and in my mind the lower down torque would be more suited to a beginner. But the 250fs seems to be a good bit more expensive than a 2t. So I suppose my main question is, is a 250f worth the extra money?

From looking at Donedeal and a few dealers on FB a 125 2t with a recent rebuild is coming in around 2k and a 250f 2012 or newer is starting around 3k up to 4k for something that looks decent. Clonmel mx breakers have a 2015 ktm sx-f 250 that seems to be in very good condition for 3950 with all the bells and whistles, is that overkill for a first bike? Am I better off getting going on a 125 for the time being?

Thanks!
