MX Armour for an old guy

MX Armour for an old guy

Hi lads

Gonna get an MX bike as soon as my track bike sells. Hoping to do some grass tracks, hare and hounds and some general arsing around in fields and trails etc with mates. Might even venture into the odd MX track for a practice session or 2 but dont think my arms would be fit for it after being away from off road for so long, we’ll see.

Basically, im looking for recommendations of body armour, knee protection and kidney belts etc as being 40 i probably won’t bounce or heal as well i used to.

I used to wear a track vest on track and thought that was great but a mate mentioned vests like that in MX generate a lot of heat and he favoured the over the head chest / back type.

So what i was thinking was maybe the Acerbis Cosmo (with built in kidney belt) or else something like the Leatt 2.5 or 4.5. Are these excessive for what i plan to do?

Also, i would buy knee braces but the expense (circa 400 plus) and how much riding ill realistically get in would probably negate that. Would knee protectors like the Acerbis Gorilla knee guards be justified for the type of riding i’m planning.

I have already ponied up for a good fibre helmet and boots as these are important.

Apologies for the length 🙂

B
