Hickman still looking good for Showdown spot

Hickman still looking good for Showdown spot

Smiths BMW’s Peter Hickman comes into this weekend’s Bennetts British Superbike round with record-breaking seven-win haul at the Ulster Grand Prix in his pocket and the bagful of confidence that goes with it.

Hickman not only marmalised the existing lap record at Dundrod, he won every race he entered and is now eyeing a return to the BSB Showdown top six at his home track.

“Although I dropped a place in the standings from seventh to eighth, I am closer to the Showdown now than I was going into Thruxton and I am only 16 points behind Andy now who is in the final Showdown position in sixth,” said Hickman.

If you look at the standings, we aren’t even that far behind even Danny or Tarran and it will be all to play for at Cadwell Park.

“Cadwell has been a really strong round for me in the past; last year I had a fourth and a seventh and I was really ill, so if I can turn up fit and strong and we get a good run through it then we are looking good for the Showdown.

“We have learned a lot, the bike is getting stronger and stronger, and I am looking forward to the challenge ahead at Cadwell Park.”
