Southern 100 Racing are pleased to confirm that Manx Radio will continue to be the Official Broadcast Partner for the Southern 100 International Road Races up to and including the 2025 event.

As Official Broadcast Partner Manx Radio will also continue to broadcast live the Pre-TT Classic Races and the Post TT Races during the same period as part of the agreement.

In addition, the National Broadcaster will also provide live coverage of the Southern 100 Racing’s Annual Media Launch, which takes place in February.

George Peach & Anthony Pugh Shake Hands on the Deal

After signing the contract, Club Chairman & Race Secretary, George Peach said:

‘The Club are very pleased that we have been able to agree to continue Manx Radio’s superb coverage of our three races held annually on the Colas Billown Course for the next six years, when the current broadcast licence expires.

‘Manx Radio first broadcast the Southern 100 in 1964 and have provided live coverage every year since, which enhances everyone’s experience of the ‘friendly races’, be they around the course watching or listening on their radios or these days various app’s not only here on the Island, but nowadays worldwide.’

Anthony Pugh, Manx Radio’s Managing Director replied:

‘Manx Radio is particularly proud that it is about to build on its 54-year relationship with Southern 100 Motorcycle Racing Limited with this new 6-year commitment to motorcycle coverage in the South of the Island. Motorcycle coverage has always been at the heart of our service to listeners and we are delighted that this new agreement with the Club will ensure these superbly organised race meets will continue to be available to a worldwide audience via Manx Radio’.

Celebrating the Partnership.

When Manx Radio started in 1964, they broadcast the Southern 100 Races live with Jack Quayle as commentator at the start-finish.

1981 saw Peter Kneale take over the ‘mic’ on the Castletown By-pass, with Maurice Mawdsley filling the hot-seat in 1988, continuing up to 2016, handing over to Tim Glover in 2017 who now sits in what has been described as ‘the best commentary position in road racing’!

With live coverage secured for the next six years, 2025 will see Manx Radio celebrating a 60-year association with the southside races, as the Southern 100 will celebrate its 70th anniversary.
