Changed the oil seal and dust seal in one of my forks but the dust seal won’t stay pressed into the solid tube. Its a nice snug fit around the stanchion but where it presses into the solid tube its fairly loose. When I press down on the forks the dust seal stays stays down the distance I pressed the stanchion to instead of staying in the solid tube end.

Would a bit of insulating tape wraped around the bit that presses in or a smear of silicone hold it up or what would be best for it.

Its measuring practically the same as the original but the grooves don’t seem as deep
