Maybe i’m a tool for even thinking of this angle, but here it goes- what would be the challenges of transplanting forks between different bike models?

Say a discontinued bike such as mine is challenging to provide for, would it be realistically doable to turn her into a Frankenstein’s monster and try to find forks made for other more recent bikes and slap them onto the auld lady? Keeping in mind we’re not talking supersports or motocross, just a nice old lady cruising without hurry:ninja:
