ROAD racer turned TV presenter Guy Martin is set to race on four wheels in 2016 in the British Rallycross Championship.

The TT star plans to race a 600bhp, four-wheel-drive Ford Focus WRC in the Supercar class for Team RX Racing.

Martin is to compete alongside Team RX Racing’s lead driver and former MSA British Rallycross Champion Ollie O’Donovan.

Martin said: ‘It’s something different and that always excites me.’

O’Donovan said: ‘Guy is a huge name. Many people will know who he is without being heavily into motorsport or bike racing. It’s a pleasure to have him compete as part of Team RX Racing.’

The exact event in which Martin will compete remains to be confirmed but will be later in the year after he has finished his latest television schedule with Channel 4, according to Team RX Racing.

Martin said: ‘I’m looking forward to the challenge some time later in the year subject to other commitments.’

His first go in the car will be at a test session where he is also expected to try out a Honda Fireblade-engined RX150 Buggy.

O’Donovan said: ‘I know that when Guy sees a buggy he will want to have a go in it, so we’ll make sure there is one available at the test.’
