REPSOL Honda’s Marc Marquez has apologised for making a mistake in this weekend’s Aragon Grand Prix as the ‘season is not going well’.

Marquez crashed out of Sunday’s MotoGP in Aragon, amounting to his fifth DNF of the season despite starting from pole position for the 29th time in his MotoGP career.

After making an average start to the Aragon Grand Prix, Marquez hunted down leader Jorge Lorenzo after dropping to third, but the young Spaniard let the pressure get to him and made a mistake on only the second lap as he lost the front at turn 12 and crashed out of contention. 

‘Today I can only apologise to the team and the fans, because we were working very well and we had a very good pace all weekend,’ said Marquez speaking at Aragon.

‘On the second lap, when braking for turn 12, I made a mistake and lost the front. It was my fault and I apologise. When a season is not going well for you, then nothing goes your way, and it seems that this season we are finding things hard. There are still four races to go and we will try to be at the front and fight to the end.’

Marquez remains third in the MotoGP World Championship standings, but now finds himself 79 points behind the leader Valentino Rossi.
