Royal Enfields unfortunate Himalayan promo vid vanishes
ROYAL Enfield has removed a promotional video for its adventure bike from YouTube – but it’s not because it shows a peg snapping off, the firm says.
Visordown readers were first to spot the peg snapping off in the video, as Indian Dakar veteran CS Santosh lands the new Himalayan model after a jump.
Royal Enfield faced a barrage of criticism from YouTube viewers and posted a response saying: ‘This testing proved to us that if you land from a jump that’s 6ft above ground, the footpeg could break, so we made it better and did it all over again and again before we broke out with the #Himalayan.’
Now the video has been taken off the firm’s YouTube channel (but we still have the stills).
However, it’s nothing to do with the peg snapping but just because a new video is on the way to ‘replace’ it, the Indian firm says.
A spokesman said: ‘It’s always been the plan to take this video down and replace it. A new video isn’t far away.’
Who wants to tell them that YouTube can host more than one video at a time?
Other promo videos for the bike posted around the same time remain on the firm’s YouTube channel.
