BELGIAN bike maker Saroléa plans to build road-going versions of its SP7 electric TT race bike, the firm has announced.

The SP7 finished fifth in this year’s TT Zero race, with a 106.510mph lap by Robert Wilson. The electric race bike made its TT Zero debut in 2014.

Now a limited run of road-going all-electric superbikes ‘derived directly’ from the SP7 are to be produced on the Isle of Man.

The first of the machines, called the Saroléa Manx 7, has already been homologated on the Isle of Man for public road use.

The news was announced by Bridgestone, supplier of the Battlax VO2 tyres used on the SP7.

Bridgestone Europe MD Jake Rønsholt said: ‘The Saroléa superbike is blazing a trail for a future of electric motorcycling, on and off the track.’
