DOUBLE MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner crashed out of whilst leading the Suzuka 8-Hours endurance race which has resulted in a broken leg and shoulder.

The 29-year-old was on his first stint in this year’s Suzuka 8-Hours after taking over from team-mate Takumi Takahashi for the #634 Musashi Honda team when his throttle became stuck. At the approach to the hairpin, Stoner went down breaking his left scapula and fracturing his right tibia. 

Unfortunately, the Musashi Honda team were unable to retain their Suzuka 8-Hours title as they were then forced to retire as the bike was too badly damage. 

Taking to Twitter, Stoner tweeted a photo and said: “Well my #Suzuka8H ended spectacularly!Stuck Throttle = Broken Scapula + Fractured Tibia and a few more tweaks. Sucks!

“Sorry to my team @mickeyvdmark, Takumi Takahashi and the entire crew, they have worked too hard to end it like that. Thank you guys!” 

There is currently 1 hour and 10 minutes remaining of the Suzuka 8-Hours Endurance race with MotoGP’s Bradley Smith & Pol Espargaro and Katsuyuki Nakasuga currently in first position for the Yamaha Factory Racing team.
