Luggage for Velosolex

Luggage for Velosolex

Well guys,as ye may know,I picked up a Velosolex a while back from a lad on here and while I’m happy out with it,one drawback is the luggage carrying abilities. You know how it goes, you’re on your way home from the farmers market and where do you stash your haul of organic kale and wheatgrass. And if you get a 2 for 1 on beard oil, well forget it.The only option is a lidl bag hanging from the handlebars(or worse a tesco item:unsure2:).I figured a topbox would be the ideal solution but a modern givi type job would look all wrong while an old style white yoke would be frankly criminal.I had to start thinking outside the box,so to speak:biggrin_old:

I thought of a wine box but couldn’t seem to get hold of one,the offies can’t get them any more so they’re holding on to what they have for display purposes.I kept my eyes open for something suitable and my recent trip to Ikea turned up a wooden box of about the right size.My incredibly accurate (guessed) measurements suggested it should do so I paid the E6 pricetag and headed south with crossed fingers. After assembling it I offered it up and bingo,it was a perfect fit:biggrin_old:.the only problem was the colour was a bit pale so a quick coat of wood stain (left over from a diy job)and we were flying.

While it was looking good something was missing so I called one of my customers who does decorative woodwork. He has this mad laser yokie that etches wood so I showed him what I wanted.A quick google search, hit a few buttons, check dimensions and hit the go button. This is the result.

Pretty nifty I’m sure you’ll agree.I took it for a run after to see if it affected handling. The fookin thing handled like a pig on roller-skates so no change there:lbhbh:
