Figured my thread question is slightly different to my other thread so thought best to start a separate thread.

I passed my theory test, have applied for learner permit last week, so now waiting for that. Between stags, weddings, holidays and what not I’ve only 1 weekend free until September, and the instructor isn’t free until 20th Sept, so I’ve essentially 8 weeks until I do the IBT. I booked in for the 20th as I didn’t want to do the training and then have a few weeks gap before buying a bike.

So….do I buy my gear in advance of the training? Part of me thinks this is wise as it’ll get me going asap after completing IBT. The other part is I have no idea of what I need.

The other thing is the bike. I can rent a bike or buy a bike before the IBT and do it on that, but I can’t insure it without IBT??? I don’t own a van so can’t drive my own bike there for training, so I guess it’s buy the bike after IBT?

So what’s the "usual" order for doing these things?

IBT
Buy Bike

or…

IBT
Buy gear
Buy bike?

Has anyone any other input on this part? I’ve 8 weeks so I’ve plenty of time to iron out the creases!
