A spokesperson for the HD repairs workshop said ; “Harley-Davidson has announced a voluntary recall involving the secondary clutch actuator on certain 2017 and 2018 Touring, Trike and Softail and CVO Touring and Softail models. The secondary clutch actuator may exhibit an internal leak of fluid past the secondary clutch actuator piston/seal.

Quote:

“Owners of affected motorcycles will be contacted to arrange service with an authorised Harley-Davidson dealer, who will confirm that the motorcycle is covered by this recall. If covered, the dealer will arrange with the customer to have install parts from the recall kit, which will consist of a new secondary clutch actuator piston/seal.

“Harley-Davidson is conducting this voluntary recall in the interest of customer safety and satisfaction. Customer notifications will begin on or about the week 5th November 2018. Customers with questions about the recall should contact their nearest authorised Harley-Davidson dealership.”

While the Milwaukee manufacturer has estimated the global recall to cost in the region of $35 million, the firm suggested there was no such thing as bad publicity and expected sales to increase as a result.
