Variety being the spice of life and all that, I’ve owned a fair range of bike types over the years, but something I’ve never actually owned yet is a triple.

I’ve ridden a few – some fairly anti-social Kwack 2 strokes back in the day, and then latterly an early Triumph 900 Trident, but never had more than a short blast on any of them.

I didn’t really like the Trident btw, as I had an early 900SS at the time, and although the Triumph was quicker, it felt top heavy, and just a horrible thing to ride in comparison to the Duke. But then, maybe it was one of those things where you had to own it and get used to it for a while before you started to appreciate it properly.

Anyways, I’m at the stage where I’m thinking seriously about buying a decent triple to give one a shot. Wondering – are there any that have a bit of character/ handle not too badly/make nice noises, and would be worth thinking about running for a year or two ?
