Ducati Monster 1200

Ducati Monster 1200

Been half looking for a nekkid ducati but im not getting drawn into silly priced bikes, id rather bite my nose off instead, literally. But for a few more balloons, a newish 2014/15 1200 monster is an option.

“Monster”…………….:bag: The name doesnt conjure up a wet arousal If im being honest, never has.

Was totally sure i wasnt going to like this bike…good lawrd, this thing is a ball of fun no end, really impressive engine, and the torque, its punchy, but v v smooth fueling etc. I suppose it is an 1198, but not like the older big bore dukes i rode from recent.

I couldnt get over the pick up on it. But the steering lock is sh1t to non existent, nearly caught me out twice, and not being my bike i nearly dropped it, but didnt :bag: Only a problem when trying to do a reverse turn maneuver on a tight mountain road or turn on a sixpence :rolleyes2: So best go get off and do it…..:sadwalk:

However….on the road, full chat its a dinger. Light enough steering, the crap lock doesnt make any odds at all. The hum from this is very addictive and you’re pulling 3rd / 4th and it doesnt run out of breath like you’d think. Surges forward, light front, and a killer drones like its hunting down a spinless weed from the irish government. It feels light on its fit and as you sit in it, not on it, its a hoot and shows no weight at all. Pulls up really well, and no twitches / head shaking slowing or speeding up.

i think its 200 kgs wet with 135 bhp / 85 torques stock & 145bhp / 94 torques with the “s” model with funky wheels and ohlins.

Im not sure about the looks of the back end ( they come with a red pillion cover ) , but it goes like fook, even uphill, and sounds savage, its all day fun and comfortable.

ive had one or two ducati’s and i think id like to add the 1200 Monster to the list sometime. A bit like getting your kit off in the dark, in public and not feeling like your arms have been pulled form your sockets, then sewn back on ( 1199 panigale , but worth it ) :woots:

with the “s” you get the usual upgrades, but the stocker was ok in fairness, which is the bike here. I couldnt really fault it ( apart from neutral, which is a ducati trait – makes them unique ).

There is a lot going on with this bike, with the tft display, dct, abs etc along with riding modes and those unbeatable brembos.

It aint a full balls out superduke or Tunono v4 but its mighty bike in fairness, you’d think it was a plod around chap latex chap wearing bike, but i can assure you it aint :flex: ( but it could be if you were that way inclined )

8/10 :thumbsup2: If you’re looking for big bang fun and lots of smiley faces fairing free bike, this is a very much a worthy big bang naked to consider.
