Importing bike into Ireland from Australia

Importing bike into Ireland from Australia

Hi Guys,

I have been looking about and can’t find anywhere that explains clearly what I need to do after I get a crate delivered to Dublin Port. I have lost my job and decided to move back home. I have CBR500R ABS here just over 6 months old. I have it up for sale but I am getting nothing but shit low ball offers. SO I decided that I might ship it home.

There is a company here who ships to the UK, they will crate it, ship it and deliver it to a depo. in the UK, where I just ride away to Ireland for AU$ 2200+Insurance.

To crate it, deliver to the ship and ship to Ireland is AU$ 1112 + Insurance. But they don’t take care of any customs duty or import charges etc. I will also have to brake down the crate etc.

Now is it worth 2 times the price for the convenience of riding away from a depo. Or is getting it through Dublin port easier than I think? I have no idea what is involved in getting a bike in or what the costs are involved.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
