Yamaha Recall – Cork Dealer

Yamaha Recall – Cork Dealer

Yes lads, your favorite Japanese brands also issue safety recalls. But these don’t make the news as much I guess…

Anyways, the MT09 had a recall for the lower handle bar holder which apparently doesn’t have the appropriated tolerance on the threads and might become lose… nice!

Checked my VIN number on Yamaha’s website and sure enough, it was affected.

The website itself takes you to “find a dealer” in your location, where “Ross Motorcycles” is the closest to me here in Cork.

I reached out to your man here and he told me to contact Danfay in Dublin directly to request the part, which I found odd as since he’s an official Yamaha dealer he should be able to request the part himself but, sure… a single phone call is not an issue so I did.

Danfay said that there was no bother at all, they’ll send the part straight away but they needed Ross Motorcycles to send them an email with the VIN as it’s a dealer requesting the part.

Back to him and reluctantly agreed to send the email to Danfay.

About a month went by, no news. Sent an email to Ross and he said that he had no updates and when I asked him if he could follow up with Danfay he said that he done his part already and I should be the one chasing them.

So back to Danfay again and they were as shocked as I was, they couldn’t believe how stupid and poor the customer service was from Ross.

I mean, it’s not like I’m looking for freebies here or that I’m trying to run a dodgy warranty service or something like that, it’s Yamaha telling me that I should change that part due to safety concerns, it shouldn’t be me going through Yamaha’s dealer network trying to source my part, etc…

After a few back and forth, it seems like the part is here but Ross says that he’s fully booked this week and they’re taking next week off, so two more weeks of waiting. At this point, I’ve asked Danfay if I can just collect the part and take it to another dealer because I just had enough with your man.

Since he didn’t sell the bike, he has no interest and can’t be bothered. And he said so himself…

The level of customer service is absolutely shocking and brands like Yamaha should be more careful who they grant their “official dealer” status.

We’ll see how the story ends but if you’re in Cork, I’ll say that you’ll be better off staying away from Ross Motorcycle unless you’re in for a mighty Benelli.

…and I would like to say that my rant is over but I haven’t even got the freaking part replaced yet.

Cheers,

Rami
