Defending champions PBM Kawasaki ready for Silverstone fight back

Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne and the PBM Kawasaki team are ready to come out fighting at Silverstone this weekend (2/3/4 October) at the penultimate round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship following a positive test at Knockhill today (Monday).

After a difficult weekend at Assen by their high standards the team were focused on overcoming some of the issues that hampered their performance at Assen, where they missed out on a podium finish. However the team have regrouped and are prepared for a resurgence this weekend as Byrne’s strive for five titles continues as he bids to close the deficit in the points standings.

Byrne clocked up 78 laps of the Knockhill circuit today, including an 18-lap race simulation and is feeling confident ahead of the two critical races on Sunday.

Byrne said:

“As a team we know that we needed to regroup after Assen and come back stronger because that is what we do. Myself and the team couldn’t be working any harder to get back to winning again and the test we had today was good as we could work on some of the areas we knew we needed to improve.

“Our pace was strong and we have a good idea on what we need to work on when we arrive at Silverstone. We managed to get through a lot of stuff in such a short space of time that we wouldn’t normally get the chance to try during a race weekend, so we hope to start at Silverstone in a better position.

“There is nothing more that we want as a team than to win the two races at Silverstone on Sunday because we are not happy unless we are winning!”
