Had it not been for a mid-season testing injury, Kennedy would perhaps have cleaned up earlier having won an impressive 11 races this season, having finished no lower than second in any race he’s started.

Victory in Saturday’s sprint race while title rival Ben Currie was hit with a jump start penalty meant Kennedy carries an unassailable 66-point lead with one race remaining.

The title win goes some way to making up for the heart-breaking defeat the Irishman suffered back in 2012, when Glen Richards beat him to the title despite crashing out of the final race of the year as Kennedy broke down in the final stages.

Quote:

“The season has been great, I’ve had ten wins and we’ve never finished off the podium,” he said.

“It’s probably been one of my most enjoyable years racing. I had a few injuries mid-season which we had to fight through, I went through the pain barrier to say the least and we came out with a second and a fourth injured at Thruxton. It’s a season to remember and to sign it off with a win makes everything complete.”
