Former racer Gearld Kingsbury, continues to support the sport he loves so much, by continuing his sponsorship in Irish motorcycle racing circles. For the 2016 season, Gearld will field two talented riders, with a mix of youth and experience. Antrims Nikki Coates and Duleeks Aaron Clifford are the chosen riders for the 2016 season. Both riders will compete in the Irish 600 Supersport championship, and hopefully the Mondello Masters series. The ambitious team have also added a new ZX10 Kawasaki to their stable, and this will be ridden by Coates, who will be aiming for a Double Irish Championship assault! Winner of the Davy Wood Memorial Trophy for the second year in succession, Coates feels he has a good chance in this years 600 supersport championship, without doubt, one of the most competitive classes on the Irish short circuit scene at present. The 26 year old Air Conditioner engineer, has been racing for 15 years now, and has loads of experience, having competed in the European Moto 2 championship last season, finishing in every race except the last, and also in the points!. Speaking to a delighted Nikki Coates “I am really looking forward to this season, with Kingsbury Packaging putting their faith in me, I hope I can do the team justice, I Cant wait to get out to Spain to get miles on the new ZX10, I will be helping Woolsley Coulter with his Academy, and at the same time getting valuable miles on the new bike. I certainly hope that I have a better season on the big bike, than I had when I did likewise at British Superstock in 2014, where I got injured at round one, and due to problems with the team, I only lasted three meetings! . I will be competing in all short circuit events in Ireland in 2016 and will be aiming to win every championship I compete in. We showed good pace last year on the 600 and can improve on it and think with the testing on the 1000 we can be on the pace also. “

Up and coming Dunleek rider, Aaron Clifford, is one of Irelands brightest young riders, a former Irish Minimoto champion, Aaron has competed in the 450 Aprillia challenge at the Thundersport series for the past couple of seasons, gaining valuable experience. Last year, Aaron competed in as many home events as possible, despite missing the opening round of the Adelaide Masters series, he finished second in the supertwins series, over the season, the 16 year old claimed no less than 24 podium placing, including 7 wins! Just days after turning 16, Gearld Kingsbury offered Aaron a ride on the teams 600 Kawasaki, and he repaid them with an amazing debut, taking two seconds and a third in the Adelaide Masters Cup races . An equally excited Aaron spoke of the forthcoming season ;” I am really looking forward to working with the Kingsbury Packaging Racing Team, after doing two rounds with them last year I learned a lot from them as they are a very experienced and friendly team. I am also really looking forward to having Nikki Coates as a team mate as he has always helped me out in the past. The Kingsbury Packaging Team are a very Professional Racing team and always have well turned out bikes. Dad has purchased a stock 600 Kawasaki, on which I will race at the Thundersport meetings which don’t clash with the home events. Yes indeed, I am really Looking forward to the 2016 season” Team owner, Limavady Business man, Gearld Kingsbury, of Kingsbury Packaging, was no mean competitor in his day, After a few years racing, he retired , set up his business, then made a return, where he clinched the 1998 Irish Clubmans 600 short circuit championship. Since then, Gearld has continued his involvement in the sport, sponsoring many riders, including Denver Robb, Jason McLean, Mark Lunney, Mark Pollock, Gerard Kinghan and Conor Parkhill and Marshall Neil, who clinched the Irish Superbike championship on Kingsbury Packaging machinery.
