Suncity Group Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix – 49th Edition

Held each year since 1967, the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix is recognised as one of the world’s leading international motorcycle road races. This year, once again the entry is truly international, including riders from Europe, America, Australia and South Africa.

Amongst the 31 riders from 11 different countries and territories are now fewer than four previous winners, and all of them some of the biggest names in international road racing: Stuart Easton, Ian Hutchinson, Michael Rutter, and John McGuinness.

Easton returns on the hunt for a fifth Macau win, and is partnered by Ian Hutchinson on the Paul Bird Motorsport team. Meanwhile, this time Rutter will ride a BMW, a marque which is on the hunt for its first Macau win, and has the experienced Gary Johnson, Canadian Dan Kruger, who made his debut there last year, and Swiss rider Hervé Gantner on his team.

Lee Johnston will have his sights set high after three wins at the Ulster Grand Prix earlier this year, while Martin Jessopp, third last year, is sure to be a strong contender for victory.

A highly successful rider in the growing European road racing scene is German Didier Grams who will race alongside Austrian Horst Saiger. From Portugal come Nuno Caetano and André Pires.

Popular American riders Mark Miller and Brandon Cretu return. Miller on a Splitlath EBR and Cretu riding for the Bimota Factory Racing team alongside Ben Wylie.

As it approaches its 50th anniversary, we are delighted to have a line-up of truly the world’s finest international road racers for the Suncity Group Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix – 49th Edition.
