Mondello Park is delighted to announce the continued expansion of the Masters Superbike Championship, Ireland’s biggest Motorcycle Racing Series. In 2016 the progressive championship will once again bring riders and spectators the best of Irish Motorcycle Racing action with an expanded six event schedule between March and October.

The calendar will once again include four Mondello Park events, with one of those events becoming a single day race meeting as a second Bishopscourt date is added to the schedule. The new calendar will offer competitors three single day and three two day events, with racing taking place on at least three different track layouts.

Having achieved its goals of providing competitors with a professionally run and high profile championship in which to compete, the series promoters aim to improve things still further in 2016. Mondello Park will work more closely with Bishopscourt with the aim of standardising the events as much as possible so that whatever track the championship is racing at, the timetable, event format, and event officials will all be familiar to regular competitors.

The high cost of competing is always an issue and with this in mind competitors at Mondello Park events will benefit from reduced entry fees along with the introduction of package deals for purchasing race entries, testing and garage space together. The series will continue to provide a prize fund to Supersport and Superbike competitors and the awards on offer will expand for 2016 with the introduction of a ‘Young Rider of the Year’ competition, details of which will be announced shortly.

Speaking about the new season Mondello Park General Manager Roddy Greene commented, “We are looking forward to the year ahead with the Masters Superbike Championship set to deliver an exciting season. The changes we have implemented will offer riders a calendar of events spread out over the year with a variety of track layouts. An important development for the Championship is the introduction of the Young Rider of The Year competition where we aim to support and develop young talent.”

The 2016 championship will race on three different tracks in its first three events, kicking off at Mondello Park with a one day event on the National Track on Sunday March 20th. Next the Masters will head to Bishopscourt on April 16th to race on its National layout, before returning to the Mondello Park International Track on May 7th & 8th.

The second half of the championship will commence on the Mondello Park National layout on July 17th & 18th before the second visit of the season to Northern Ireland. This second Bishopscourt date, on August 21st, will be the circuit’s first Sunday Masters event and it is hoped to run it on the International Track. The championship will climax with its traditional finale on the Mondello Park International Track on October 1st & 2nd.
