Pirelli Supersport

Jason Lynn dominated the Supersport races at this weekend’s David Wood Memorial Trophy taking all 3 wins to retain the award. While Kia McGreevey challenged him off the line, once past, Lynn simply disappeared on the Walter BellSlemish Water Yamaha R6. There were fantastic battles for the remaining podium positions from Kia McGreevey, Christian Elkin and Simon Reid.

In the Cup races, Keith Richardson won Race 1 from Declan McCabe and Alan Graham. Race 2 was won by Michael Owens with Steven Smith in 2nd and Declan McCabe in 3rd.

Wiz Knee Sliders Superbikes

Gerard Kinghan won the first 2 Superbike Races and was 2nd in race 3, enough to land the Ulster Superbike Championship title. Ali Kirk was never far behind and took the win in Race 3 to compliment his brace of 2nd places. Ryan Gibson took 3rd place in Races 1 and 2 and Aaron Armstrong claimed the remaining podium in Race 3.

In the Cup event, Race 1 went to Steven Bloomer from Andy McAllister and Stephen O’Connor. Andy McAllister went better in Race 2, taking the win from Steven Bloomer and Gareth Mackey in 3rd.

Classics

There were wins in Race 1 for Brian Mateer (250), Linton Irwin (350), David Carleton (500) and Alistair Henry (1000). This result repeated itself in Race 2 and Race 3 over the 6 laps races.

Race 1 in Lightweight Supersport went to Gary McCoy after the tight dice with Stephen McKeown and Manx winner Darrly Tweed. Race 2 was restarted following a red flag and after another 5-lap sprint, the result was the same for McCoy, McKeown and Tweed. In Race 3 however, Tweed went one better with 2nd and McKeown 3rd leaving Gary McCoy with 3 victories for the weekend.

In the GP125/Moto3 class, Paul Robinson was on top of his game for the weekend winning all 3 races from Malcolm Love and both Andrew and Nathan Cairns. Kevin Lavery did the double in the GP250 class finishing all 3 races as did Ian Thompson in the Forgotten Era 500cc class.

Supertwins

Denver Robb, Mark Hanna and Gary McCoy had some fantastic battles in the Supertwin races and each deservedly took home a win each. Cahal Graham was the only other rider who could separate them for a podium as he took 2nd place in Race 1.

Production Twins

Adam Crooks won Race 1 in the Production Twins from Kevin Lavery in 2nd and Robert O’Connell in 3rd. Race 2’s result was amended when 3 bikes were disqualified following technical inspections giving the win to Paul Demaine from Thomas Hutchinson and 3rd place Andrew Dunlop. Adam Crooks won Race 3 from Jonny Hanna in 2nd and Robert O’Connell in 3rd.

Signstik Pre-injection

The Pre-injection races were intense scraps between Andrew Brady, Johnny Aiken, Derek O’Donnell and Johnny Irwin. Bike Breaker Andrew Brady won all three races but, was kept honest by the chasing pack. Aiken and Irwin were 2nd and 3rd in Race 1. O’Donnell was 2nd in the restarted second race from Irwin 3rd. In Race 3, O’Donnell and Irwin swapped positions to leave a podium of Brady, Irwin and O’Donnell in 3rd.

Sidecars

Peter O’Neill was the dominant force in the Sidecars at the weekend taking the three wins comfortably. All Dylan and Derek Lynch could do was to try to hang on but, O’Neill was flawless. Derek had to settle for three 2nd places and Dylan the same for 3rd, not a bad result considering the competition out there.

Nutt TravelDunlop Tyres Junior Cup & Young Guns

The Junior Cup Race 1’s results were thrown into turmoil with the disqualification of 2 competitors following a technical inspection, placing Scott McCrory on the top step with Shea McCrory in 2nd. Edward Keogh earned 3rd place. This compares to a similar finding at the most recent Dunlop Masters round in Mondello Park, and certainly not a trend that the sport needs at this or any level. Race 2 was won by Jonny Campbell from Jamie Lyons in 2nd and Cameron Dawson 3rd. Race 3 ended in a similar manner with Campbell doing the double from Lyons and Dawson in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

In the Young Guns races 1 Joshua Rae was victorious from Alex Duncan in 2nd and Mark Aiken 3rd. Race 2 had the same result but, almost ended up with a podium for Karl Lynch who thwarted Aiken all race long. The weekend belonged to Rae collecting the hat-trick from Duncan again in 2nd and Mark Aiken 3rd in Race 3.

F1 Era

George Thompson almost had the perfect weekend but close rival James Cunningham had the final say. Thompson narrowly won Race 1 by just over 1 second and 0.3 seconds in Race 2 but, in Race 3 Cunningham finally got the better of him taking the win by 4 seconds.
