"Rea lapped just half a second adrift of Tom Sykes on his first day aboard the Kawasaki ZX-10R as he completed his first laps with the manufacturer at Motorland Aragon.

In a career spent almost exclusively as a Honda rider, Rea – who has raced the CBR1000RR in WSBK since 2008 – got his first chance to try alternative machinery in Spain as he prepares for the 2015 World Superbike Championship season as a Kawasaki rider.

Quickly getting up to speed, Rea completed the day just half a second shy of former title-winning team-mate Sykes, completing the day with a 1min 52.7secs lap around the MotoGP configuration layout.

The fastest laps of the day, however, were posted by Ducati riders Chaz Davies and Davide Giugliano, the pair lapping in identical 1min 51.3secs laps."
