A2 scooter licence

A2 scooter licence

Hi everyone,

I want to get an A2 scooter licence. I need to buy a scooter that is suitable for the test, and that’s where I’m running into problems.

The RSA has a list of motorbikes and scooters that are suitable for the A2 test. Scooters suitable include the Yamaha Majesty 400 and Aprilia Atlantic 500.

I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has done an A2 (or A1) test on a scooter.

Does the instructor check your scooter’s Vehicle Registration Certificate for its cylinder capacity, its engine power in kW and power/weight ratio?

If say the power/weight ratio is not filled out on the VRC, will you not be allowed to take the text?

I’ve been told in an email from the RSA that the power to weight ratio must be at least 0.15 kW/kg, and not greater than 0.2 kW/kg. The ‘at least 0.15kW/kg is new to me, is this correct?

Any replies would be really appreciated.
