*Bit of a novice here.

Noticed a ‘clunking’ sound coming from the chain so put the bike up on the paddock stand to check it out. Seems like it’s tight in one section but pretty loose in another. Had a quick search online and looks like my chain is ‘gone’ and needs to be replaced, is this correct? Any way to sort that out without a new chain and sprockets.

I couldn’t say how long the chain has been on the bike, bought it a year ago from a decent bloke, who also had it for one year but doesn’t look like the bike was looked after too well and I’d say it’s had a few previous owners. About 13k on the bike so wouldn’t surprise me if the chain was never replaced before.

More than likely needs to be replaced, going by other posts around the internet, anyone got ideas on a cost? It’s a Yamaha YZF R125.
