ok then after my reg rec failed and fried the cdi, i replaced them both along with the battery. (XRV750 Africa Twin 1991)
started her up today and got the following readings
the stator resistance in ohms is 0.9 across all 3 (should be 0.1 to 1.0), no continuity from all three to ground, ac current is 17.4v at idle rising to 49.8v and all within .2 of a volt.

the book says 14-15v@5000rpm,

lights off at 5k is 15.2v, lights on at 5k is 14.8v measured on a multimeter at battery

its a r6 reg/rec brand new if that makes any difference
i think thats a bit high, id prefer to see 14-14.5v at the battery tbh
