bike is a 03 r1 , had a fairly violent tankslapper yesterday on way home from a spin , bike was running perfectly all day and then straight after the tankslapper i had to stop for traffic.

i noticed the bike idling rough then when i went to take off again the bike is jumping and banging like the clutch is grabing and letting go then when i go over 3k rpm the bike surges forward as normal and stays fine up through the revs. if i go down past 3krpm in any gear the bike starts banging and surging again.

i thought with the shake the bike got that an electrical connector came loose on a coil or something so i stripped it down and went through them all and they all seem fine, one of the plugs was loose so i checked them all and they are all the correct colour (iridium plugs) and i checked them all individually for spark with the plug earthing off the frame. i pulled the injectors and checked for spray and they are all spraying evenly. i sprayed wd40 on the headers this morning and they all heated up the same rate.

i checked the exup valve for movement and its working fine, when i switch on the key it opens and closes.

im stumped as to what is wrong, when i started the bike from cold this morning the rpm is surging with an intermittent knock that i can feel if i leave my hand on the clutch cover or the side of the head, it doesnt sound like the cam chain is loose, i had that before on a gsxr and i could hear the chain slapping around, i cant hear any chain noise now just the odd thump and knock.

could the shake have damaged anything in the clutch basket or has anyone any ideas???
