Strange engine issue

Strange engine issue

Hi All, hoping someone can help shine a light on what this issue could be.

Was riding home on the M50 recently when suddenly the bike (2010 blade) lost all power, like the fuel was running out. Manage to get it home and looking at it the next day it would start and run but wouldn’t run right. Anyway couldn’t deal with it myself so left it into Honda. They ran a compression test and it failed on one of the cylinders with the others also below par. 140 instead of 180.

Looking into the inlets the top of the valves are all coked up and black. Currently I’m being informed that it will require engine out, head off and clean and a rebuild or replacement of the valves costing an eye watering amount which I do not have. So currently I’m in a right bind, no bike, Honda’s solution is more that I can afford and I’m not sure if it was done the issue wouldn’t reoccur.

As I said currently nobody seems to know what happened to cause it, so I’m none the wiser on that score. Maybe someone on here has come across something similar? And would such an issue require the above work, could there be a cheaper way out of this?

It’s been going like clockwork for years and I’m fairly rigorous about servicing etc so it’s a bolt from the blue..:unsure2:

All (reasonable) thoughts and suggestions accepted…:thumbsup2:
