Wrecked Tyre During Installation?

Wrecked Tyre During Installation?

Alright Lads,

As the title suggests I’m wondering have I managed to wreck my new front Metzeler Roadtec tyre when trying to install it?

I’ve done this job a few times at home with tyre levers and it worked out grand but the Metzeler seemed stiff as fook trying to get them on (never had difficulties with any of the Pilot Roads). Anyway, due to the force I exerted, I now have a hairline crack on the rim and a damaged tyre – the steel is visible in 2 spots on the inside.

I got the tyre on in the end but couldn’t seat the bead with the compressor as it wouldn’t hold pressure. Is the tyre totally fecked now or is it worth bringing to a tyre centre to try and fit? Or is this madness to chance putting this on?
