yet another non starter.. with a twist

yet another non starter.. with a twist

hi all, so i have gotten to the stage where i am bolting in the engine and electrical bits on to the frame of my fzr 600, all ready to push the button and go… right? no. never that simple. :bash:

well firstly it took longer then im willing to admit to get the carbs to push into their rubber boots, but i had a small petrol tank im using for easier tinkering purposes suspended from over head, and petrol was pissing from the pipe joint at the carbs. but i mocked it up with the bowls filled and stoped the leaks. i started turning over the engine, not much life. then it back fires (through the carbs) so after weighing up my options i go for it again. this time it firstly back fires, and then fires through the exhaust. i used a bit of "start ya bastard" with the same results.

i have never seen this engine running, when i got it was completely seized so hoping its not a rotten apple.

it has spark and 4 brand new plugs
it also had a full carb rebuild (even tho i forgot about that one pesky seal) :00pz:
i was also turning it over with no air box but as far as i know that would only make it run poorly and not stop it from starting.

also the battery i was using is like and external power pack thing, its got a big battery with a set of jump leads coming out of it.

as far as i know i have timing done right and all valve clearences should be close to perfect.

i am going to be replacing the seals shortly so hopefully thats the main thing!

does anybody want to throw in their thoughts?
