Police believe car and scooter crash was attempted murder
POLICE are treating a crash which left a scooter rider seriously injured as attempted murder.
Detectives believe the rider was ‘deliberately driven at’ by two men in a Jaguar X-type, who got out of the car and approached the victim before driving off again.
The victim is in a serious but stable condition in hospital with internal injuries, according to Merseyside Police.
The pale blue Jaguar estate was later found by officers and has roof bars and alloy wheels.
The force is appealing for witnesses to the crash, which happened at a junction in Norris Green, Liverpool, just before 7am on Tuesday.
DCI Mark Kameen said: ‘We now believe this was a targeted attack and we are treating it as attempted murder. Our enquiries so far suggest the driver of the Jaguar deliberately caused the collision in which the rider was seriously injured. The driver and his passenger then got out and approached the victim and instead of helping him, got back into their car and drove off.
‘This was an extremely callous attack on a man who has been left with serious injuries and who remains in hospital.’
Witnesses to the crash, at the junction of Carr Lane East and Dwerryhouse Lane, are asked to call the investigation team on 0151 777 4065 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
