I’m gonna use the same theme as my last for sale ad on here so the eagle-eyed among you will certainly spot some overlap (again).

Up for sale is my somewhat underused CBR600. Bought Feb 2015 from Dan in City Spares in Dublin. Have no idea who owned it before me, unlike other bikes I have bought from them, but suffice to say it was a trade in they had taken against something else. Was in stock in ‘Spares for about a month or so before I spotted it.

Bike is in reasonable condition. Not mint but far from a shite heap. It came into City Spares as a blue CBR6 covered in Lunar stickers (I kid you not) and ratehr than laboriously pour over each panel to remove said offending items the lads in Spares rattle-canned it matt black leaving the nose fairing as original blue. To be honest it’s not a bad rattle-can job at all and definitely gives it a bit of a Mad Max vibe, you’d have to judge for yourself I guess though. To me it suited the age and general condition of the machine. Tank and all panels in good shape and no road rash anywhere. Previous owner fitted mini-indies front and back which all work correctly, as do lights and horn – no electrical gremlins that I have observed.

She runs on an original Honda OEM pipe in pretty good condition other than with a small parking dent you can see in the first photo. Mileage is just a whisker over 37K and reflects relative lack of use & abuse over the years. I suspect this bike was stored for several years prior to the previous owner’s tenure.

With the above in mind I think I have priced it appropriately. It starts on the button with a new battery supplied at purchase time (has been resurrected a few times over the summer when I wasn’t using it but recharges fine). The only downside I have found with the bike in general is it currently has a small unknown/undiagnosed carb overfuelling issue – starts fine but within a couple of minutes of idling will start to splutter and eventually dies out, complete with a strong smell of petrol. I never got it back over to City Spares for a closer look but their opinion over the phone, sharing the same detail as above, was a sticky float bowl and would be fairly easily remedied by a proper inspection. For what it’s worth I guess they all say that but I freely admit I am far from a master spannerer and hand on heart it’s the only issue I can find with the bike. It has been sitting up for a few months under a tarp and a few spiders have made their home under the mudguards and although I kept the battery topped up I would say it’s not quite ready for test rides so you would be buying somewhat on spec and based on what I say here – and giving it a good service yourself to bring it back fresh.

Running gear is well within tolerances, do not know specifically when C&S was last changed but it was tested at purchase time and given thumbs-up from the workshop. All lights working fine, charging system working nicely – disclaimer from me – I have no idea when the reg/rec was last changed but it is certainly not showing any signs of trouble – they never do I guess, so any prospective older Honda owner would of course be advised to pick up a spare pretty quickly.

All paperwork is present and correct. Anyone welcome to view, just give me a heads up so I can arrange biccies.

I believe this to be an honest bike, perhaps not a lighthouse example of the marque, but a very forgiving bike with a very light clutch action, a nice low centre of gravity and a very well-mannered engine that could literally be many things to many men. The CBR600 needs little introduction around here I suppose so I’ll say no more other than to remind that this is the last of the carb’d CBRs before FI came in the following year.

Drop me a PM if interested in knowing more, I am usually around the Clonee/Ongar/Dunboyne/Blanchardstown area most days of the week. If you can’t PM for some reason let me know on the thread.

Techie.
