Brake Pads for road riding & commuting on a sportsbike

Brake Pads for road riding & commuting on a sportsbike

Just did the Suzuki master cylinder recall on my K8 Gix 1000 & have to say the bite of the brakes & stopping power is noticeably better than before.

What’s not good in the actual pads…. I hate them when I have never disliked EBC pads before. They are EBC EPFA Extreme Pro pads & just don’t offer good bite & power from cold when you need them – maybe they just are designed to work with a bit of heat in them (which they do in fairness). They make commuting & wet weather riding more nerve racking than necessary. Have tried stock pads on a different GIx recently & they are way better bite/power wise when cold. Hell even a bloody Hyosung 650 & old CBR600 F2 I tried the other day had way better brake bite at low speed when cold. I just want bloody pads that work well all the time that don’t wreck the disks – don’t need them for the track or extreme use.

I remember using EBC Double H pads in my 954 Blade & CBR600 F4i about a decade ago & I had no complaints with them – could lift the back wheel with ease on 2 fingers & that was before radial brakes came around. They did make a funny ‘zzzzzz’ noise though which you could do without. Anybody use these pads recently & what you general feedback on them? The EBC website says that the Double H pads a more road orientated pad than the road/track EPFA Extreme Pro pads. Or anybody have better pads in mind to share with me?

Suzuki Gixxers always seem to be better at going hard than stopping hard.
