Riding through winter maintenance

Riding through winter maintenance

I’m trading the bandit up for an ’08 F800GS. Had planned to store the bike for the winter but now that I’m changing to the F800 I think I’ll keep it out.

I figured the F800GS would be a tougher machine for the winter and don’t think I could cope with not going for a spin for 2 months… Will be my first winter on the bike though.

The bike will be kept (chained) in the driveway throughout the winter, but ill be hoping to get out at least once a week.

I’m going to order some ACF 50 and give the exposed bits a good coating. As the temperatures drop I presume its best to fill up the tank after each ride to stop condensation fouling the fuel.

Is it necessary to add a fuel stabiliser as well, if so how often?

Any other advice or maintenance tips regarding the oil, coolant or battery etc?

I have an Oxford Aquatex cover, should I get a more hardcore winter cover?

Cheers :bikerie:
